The Tramores Estate
Andalucia, Southern Spain
Location
This very private estate is hidden away in the hills behind the traditional town of Benahavis. The property is exceptionally situated and secluded, only five minutes drive from Benahavis and twenty to thirty minutes from the marinas, restaurants and beaches of Puerto Banus, Marbella and Estapona.
Nearby Benahavis is a genuine Andalucian village wrapped in an oasis of calm and seclusion yet situated only seven kilometers from the main coast road, only twenty five minutes from the centres of Marbella and Estepona, and even closer to the bright lights of Puerto Banus. The village is typically Spanish – narrow streets, well shaded on hot days, white washed houses and all the natural charm of the inhabitants, but with a subtle difference. Although only a small proportion of the 2000 residents are foreigners the village has a cosmopolitan atmosphere. This is no doubt brought about by the many visitors who come to the village to sample the local cuisine for which Benahavis is renowned.
Ecology
The plants found here are typical of Mediterranean woodlands and include rock-rose, thyme and rosemary which give the countryside its colour and fragrance. Chestnut trees, some of them a hundred years old, strawberry trees, various types of pine and cork oaks are the most common trees. Nearby Benahavis is an authentic ecological paradise and one of the best natural nature reserves in the Iberian Peninsula. Despite development the ecosystem remains in tact. Because it is of such interest to nature lovers Benahavis is protected by a special conservation plan and one of its beauty spots, known as Las Angosturas, has been declared a Monumento de Interes Natural.
